Absolutely this. They love SOMETHING about the work, at least. Maybe it’s the control or the money or power, or maybe they honestly believe in the company’s mission.
A problem that we’re all guilty of is that we assume that because we intrincially found value in something, everyone else should as well. So what I’ve seen is that when the higher ups see employees burning out, they assume something wrong with the employee. Then they give the unhelpful advice of just pushing through or some such, rather than trying to actually figure out the problem.
