Busy Season Killed Me This Year

It is somehow already June.

Crud.

Busy season really did me in this year. As a tax accountant, I always expect it to be bad. But this year managed to be so much worse.

Hopefully for a good reason, though. After I struggled again to make any real money from my writing and teaching, I started my own accounting business, which has been much more successful.

That’s supply and demand for you, I guess. It reminds me of the King of the Hill episode “Business is Picking Up,” where Bobby job shadows Peter Sterling, a pooper-scooper. As Peter tells Bobby about business success, “find something that no one else wants to do, and then do it.”

While focusing on getting the business going, I haven’t been writing. I’ve been too overwhelmed.

It took me until now to realize that it’s leading, in part, to that hole I’m feeling inside me right now. I enjoy writing, even if few enjoy reading what I put down.

So now that things are a bit more established, I’m adding this back to my routine. With a little less need to actually make some money off of the process.
