I remember my freshmen year in college (which is pre-Facebook), the dorm gave out a list of everyone in the building with names and pictures. People would call it some variation of "the menu." It made me uncomfortable then, but looking back makes it that phrasing really...well, icky.

For some, Facebook has just become the worldwide version of "the menu." That's just one of many reasons my trips to Facebook have bordered on non-existent for the past few years.
