It's interesting that you chose health care and tech as two problem areas because health care is one of the most highly regulated markets, and tech the least (at least in the US).
Both of these areas have problems. Yet the standard calls to (on one side) increase government involvement or (on the other side) take the government out of it haven't lead to utopia.
I'm sure many people will think that we either haven't gotten the government involved enough or we need to remove government completely to fix the problems, but I don't think that'll do it. I'd liked to be convinced otherwise, but I'm just not seeing it.
As you say, "we need to hold ourselves accountable,", which is so much harder than just blaming someone else or have Congress push through hundreds of pages of laws.
