This is huge. Our job is to be as good people as we possibly can. The other person's job is the same. But we can't do their job for them.

This is especially hard to watch with family. My children are still fairly young, but I imagine this is nearly impossible to watch as your children turn into adults and they make their own choices.

The best we can do is teach and exhort. Trying to do anything more than that is simply out of our control, and is more likely to kill the relationship than anything else.
